Sadhana Shivdasani and Her Acting Career

Hindi filmmakers, actors, actresses and people behind the scenes have proved their great talent beyond doubt in the world of movies. Sadhana Shivdasani is one such actress, whose talent has fascinated a lot of Hindi film audiences and especially she was popular for her fringe. She has portrayed roles with perfection and extreme care that her popularity was not affected by popular actresses of those times. Her portrayal of characters might show similarity to Nutan's as Sadhana was a great fan of hers. Sadhana Shivdasani celebrates her birthday on September 2nd and she was born in a family where everybody liked movies. She is the cousin of Babita, an actress who is also the mother of Kareena and Karishma.

 

Sadhana Shivdasani started acting in plays during her college days. Through Abana (1960), a Sindhi movie, she came into the world of films. Filmmaker Subodh Mukherjee met her and signed her up for his upcoming movie Love In Simla, opposite to his son, Joy Mukherjee. This movie was directed by debutant director R K Nayyar, who after a few years married Sadhana. It was R K Nayyar who asked Sadhana to have a fringe which became her trademark in the coming years of her film career.

 

She showcased her acting ability in both romantic and horror films. Woh Kaun Thi?, Saaya and Anita were some of her well-known thrillers which added another golden feather to her cap. Her scintillating and captivating performances in the movies Aarzoo, Ek Phool Do Maali, Mere Mehboob and Inteqaam boosted her already successful career. She was nominated for Best Actress in the Filmfare Awards for the years '64 and '65 for the movies Woh Kaun Thi? and Waqt respectively.

 

She had directed and performed in Geeta Mera Naam, 1974. After her marriage with R K Nayyar, she chose to be a homemaker. Sadhana and Nayyar didn't have children. Her connection with films was not easily cut off. When both of them established a production company, she was active in all the processes of the production house. She was uninterested in performing supporting characters, so she declined all acting offers.

 

In her movie career, she was lucky to have acted along with a lot of of the actors in Hindi movie industry. Rajendra Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Sunil Dutt and Dev Anand were some of those well known actors. In horror and romantic genre, some films of hers are classified as classic films. She is surely an actress who acts with finesse and charm and has created a unique place in the industry.
