The Pacific DVD Set – The Brilliant Pacific Mini Series All in One

I was recently given the Pacific DVD set as a gift and boy what a present it has turned out to be. I can honestly say that I have been totally enthralled from start to finish with this amazing miniseries and have never been so engrossed in a World War 2 drama, ever.

The DVD set not only tells the story of three marines using their own accounts of actual events but, you also get to see behind the scenes and get a birds eye view of how it was made.

Also from an educational aspect you get a break down of the war in the Pacific itself and see how historical influences and cultural perceptions and differences played a big part and were instrumental to the relentless ongoing brutality throughout the conflict.

Of course there have been other depictions of battles in World War 2 but, with the collaboration of Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg  putting their genius spin on events, the result is nothing less than sheer brilliance and has classic written all over it.

What makes it stand out from anything else that I have ever seen, I think, is the fact that you the viewer gets to be so involved and up close and personal with the characters.

You live the experience and feel the pain and raw emotions that these brave men endured.

The Pacific miniseries focuses on three marines Robert Leckie, John Balisone and Eugene Sledge all of whom have very different but equally horrific experiences during their time at war with the Japanese whether at home, on leave or during combat.

With Sledge and Leckie both having written books about their battles not only with a brutal enemy in an unforgiving terrain but personal wars with adjustment to normal everyday life it is easy to immerse yourself in the horror and miseries that they had to deal with.

With disc 6 featuring a number of World War 2 veterans from that particular campaign recounting their own experiences it really brings home the fact that what you have seen is not from the imagination of some Hollywood movie maker but it all really happened and those brave men lived, endured and overcame terror and hardships the likes of which, thankfully most of us will never have to know.

Both humbling and uplifting and with graphic detail used to really bring home not just a vicious, unforgiving, merciless enemy but, harsh daily living conditions, exhaustion, starvation and sickness the Pacific DVD set is a true testament beautifully presented and told and even if you are not a World War 2 fan, this particular epic is a must see.

You can now discover the latest insider's information on this outstanding World War 2 miniseries as well as an opportunity to see an overview and clips of the Pacific DVD Set and other similar WW 2 masterpieces by going to=> http://www.squidoo.com/the-pacific-dvd-set
